Hoopwars is a spectacle basketball promotion I founded and the pilot event was released in the fall of 2022

The event pitted local basketball players against each other in a unique MMA format of one-on-one basketball. This included a battle between two swifty guards, a veteran player against an underdog, a marathon runner against a high school basketball star, and a match-up between a talented shooter and a forward with a 40lb weight advantage.

I personally financed and produced this project. The shooting and editing of this project was split between myself and an Executive Producer I hired. This project taught me many lessons on video production, event management, and event marketing and was a relative success for a pilot event with a staff of two (including myself).

The video garnered over 700 unique viewers and had an average watch time of 10 minutes. That is 10 times the average viewing duration for any video on YouTube. Hoopwars also garnered 100 Instagram followers leading up to the event.

I look to use the lessons I obtained in the pilot event to broadcast more Hoopwars events in the future, with the next one taking place in late 2023.
